Ideally it is best to prune a tree when it is in full leaf or dormant in the winter, however each species of tree reacts differently for example fruit trees are best pruned in later winter. It is always best to check with your tree service provider to maintain optimal health and growth of the tree, we are always happy to advise as each tree is different. However; if the tree is dead, damaged or diseased work should be carried out immediately to prevent any the tree from further damage or safety hazards.

During nesting season trees and hedges can be pruned and cut but to put your mind at rest we will inspect for active nests and carry out a wildlife assessment to ensure all precautions are made. Work can be carried out using hand tools, enabling the tree surgeons to continue to check for wildlife the throughout the process.

Q: How long do out need to season/dry logs before burning them?

Drying or seasoning your wood can differ from tree species to species, the drying process can be sped up by how the timber is stored. For example, if the wood is cut, split and stored in a log store it would dry much faster than if it was left in long lengths of timber. Logs can be burnt once the moisture content is 20% or lower.

All our chip is recycled, it gets used by allotments, at stables, in gardens, on farms and sent to biomass too.

Not necessarily, there are options and each individual tree needs to assessed first, we have had a lot of success recently with Ash trees that we have heavily reduced/pollarded to make them safe. This process has successfully increased the longevity of these particular trees, while maintaining natural habitat for the local wildlife.
